Is Purple in the "blue" family?

I have to admit, I'm a little down today. There's not one particular reason, but more like a smorgasbord of reasonettes. Whenever I start to feel sorry for myself like this, I resolve to find the silver lining. Sometimes it takes long, sometimes it doesn't, but it always seems to be right in my back yard, which happened to look particularly beautiful yesterday at sundown.
